Clearview Intelligence’s SolarLite Solution Wins ADEPT Live Labs 2 Pitching Session
We are thrilled to announce that our SolarLite solution has won the “Dragons’ Den”-style pitching session at the ADEPT Live Labs 2 expo. This recognition highlights the innovative and sustainable impact of our solar-powered road stud solution, which is currently being trialled in the East Riding of Yorkshire to reduce emissions from streetlighting.
Our SolarLite technology utilises solar-powered illuminated road studs to provide lane delineation without the need for traditional streetlighting. This breakthrough approach cuts carbon emissions and light pollution while maintaining, if not enhancing, road safety.
“We truly feel this is a transformative solution to change the way we light our roads whilst ensuring safety runs through the veins of our decarbonising agenda,” said Ralph Bates, Head of Business Development at Clearview Intelligence. “Extended thanks to our Live Labs project team, led by Karl Rourke and John Lamb, for believing in this solution and helping us take things to the next level.”
The SolarLite solution was selected from a range of Net Zero-focused innovations presented to an expert panel of ‘Dragons,’ including Rupert Furness, Deputy Director of Local Highways and Active Travel at the Department for Transport; Angela Halliwell, Head of Carbon and Air Quality Group at National Highways; and Mike Batheram, Market Director for Local Transport at Atkins Réalis.
“This project is already receiving early recognition, with a view to setting a new standard for lighting design and supporting the DfT with a step change in the normalisation and uptake of low-carbon solutions,” Ralph continued. “Local residents in East Riding of Yorkshire have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, welcoming the replacement of traditional lighting columns with this innovative low-carbon delineation solution. Not only does it restore their dark skies, but it also ensures road safety is maintained or even improved.”
He added, “Rather than local authorities defaulting to large-scale street lighting installations in new road developments because that’s the traditional approach, we can now offer a well-informed alternative. The evidence is clear, our solution delivers substantial carbon reductions and significant financial savings.”
Winning the ADEPT Live Labs 2 pitching session is a testament to our commitment to pioneering sustainable road safety solutions. We look forward to continuing to work with forward-thinking local authorities to revolutionise the way we light our roads for a greener, safer future.
