Happy Birthday Clearview Intelligence!

One year ago, Clearview Traffic announced that it was changing its name to Clearview Intelligence. The new branding capitalised on Clearview's established position in the market, simplifying the market messaging and introducing a simple brand promise built around a single word: intelligence.

Having previously undertaken extensive market research, and in speaking with our customers, we understood that the highways industry was moving on. The industry didn't just require simple product usage on ad hoc schemes, but increasingly wanted complex solutions that integrated into the bigger picture of ensuring the UK roads operate in a safe and efficient manner.

This industry shift has been backed up by Highways England chief executive Jim O'Sullivan, who at the recent Traffex 2017 said "If you go back ten years, we used to talk about turning data into information. Now we've got to turn information into intelligence. What are we going to do with it has become the question, rather than how do we get it."

In the past year, to help facilitate this change to creating intelligence through our solutions, Clearview has opened a new R&D facility in Milton Keynes. The 'Insight Hub' provides a base for the growing R&D team and is a great central location from where to test and showcase a range of technologies in development. The work has included a V3 Insight® data intelligence platform containing a fully-fledged parking occupancy management module that uniquely combines data from multiple sensor sources. This means the Insight software is a complete package that enables operators to have full mobile visibility and onward communication of traffic flows, journey times and parking capacity intelligence.

To help provide intelligent solutions, we have seen the technology involved undergo continued change as the industry begins to grasp the big data nettle and invest in solutions such as smart highways, UTMC and other integrated solutions. Within this area Clearview have produced an industry first with a Machine Learning Loop Detector (MLLD). The MLLD utilises machine learning to more accurately identify vehicle classes with similar characteristics, alongside reduced power consumption and remote upgrade capability.

Whilst looking forwards, the business has not forgotten its roots, and has been investing in updating its road studs. The new SolarLite 2 next generation solar powered road stud, using the latest LED technology is up to 3.5 times brighter than its predecessor, offering even greater visibility in all weather conditions. The new stud will be available in the second half of 2017, so keep an eye out for the launch celebrations.

Nick Lanigan, MD at Clearview commented "It's been a perfect year of showing off the many attributes that Clearview has as a business. We've continued to innovate in our installed solutions but also kept an eye on the future with new product and application developments that will aid road and parking operators well into the next decade. All in all, the last 12 months have been a busy, but truly great year of change and development for the Clearview Intelligence business."

To help celebrate one year of the new branding, we have recently released a new video showcasing the range of solutions we can help with.

And the journey continues in 2017.
