Why road safety solutions are at the very heart of what we do.

Clearview Traffic Groupprides itself on the fact that our products help to prevent deaths and serious accidents on the roads.

For instance, our product range includes our three times’ Highways Magazine Excellence Awards (HMEA) award winning Astucia SolarLite road studs, proven to reduce night-time roadaccidents by up to 70% in accident blackspots in the UK.

As part of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and our membership of the Business In The Community (BITC) network, we are also keen to ensure that we add value to relevant third party road safety initiatives wherever possible – especially those campaigns targeted at children.

Instilling road awareness at an early age helps to prevent unnecessary road traffic accidents in childhood and beyond.

In 2013, serious road incidents involving children dropped significantly in comparison with the preceding two years (DfT, Reported road casualties in Great Britain: main results 2013, published June 2014). A total of 48 children (aged 0 -15) were killed in reported road traffic accidents in 2013, compared with 61 children in 2012.

The number of children seriously injured also fell by 13 per cent to 1,932, and total child casualties fell by 9 per cent between the two years – the lowest total since detailed records started in 1979.

Whilst there are a variety of factors which may be attributed to this reduction, at least some of the credit is due to improved awareness and education aimed at both drivers and pedestrians. The effective use of traffic data collection plays a critical part in increasing road safety in the UK.

One such road safety campaign is THINK!

Recently, THINK! has teamed up with the RAC and “Wallace and Gromit” creators Aardman, to launch a road safety campaign for schools. The campaign encourages pupils aged 4-16 to enter a national competition to create and develop an animated road safety video or a talking poster.

The winners of the competition will receive 1,000 for their school, and the runners-up will get the opportunity to join an Aardman workshop with a top model maker! Visit here for more information.

Clearview Traffic is already an active supporter of the national road safety charity, Brake, through website sponsorship and active participation in their awareness-raising activity days throughout the year across the UK.

This year Brake’s Road Safety Week runs from 17-23 November and as part of our activities for this year, we are aiming to target the road safety message at young drivers.

To this end, we are working with a local Motorsports college and the local Fire & Rescue service to run live mock demonstrations of accident scenes, and bring home the message on just how important it is to drive safely and be aware of potential hazards, including young children.

Improving road safety is a critical element of our company vision, and we are always pleased to hear about any relevant initiatives or programmes in which we can get involved across the UK. Our road safety solutions are saving lives daily.
