Data Management Platform

Insight is our Data Management Platform and provides a suite of applications and tools in a single platform for device management, data collection and analysis.

  • As cities, towns and villages continue to grow, so do the challenges related to mobility, population, and the environment.

  • Insight parking is a scalable, hosted service that underpins a range of applications for parking optimization.

  • The Insight Data Management platform is a scalable hosted service underpinning a range of targeted applications for traffic monitoring.

  • Journey Time data is a critical asset in the road operators battle to keep the traffic flowing, reduce congestion and manage incidents on the road.

Active Road Studs

Road studs have been a core offering from Clearview since the 1990s when the first Astucia solar powered road studs were first installed. Since then, we have developed and continue to improve our technology in this area.

  • Low profile solar powered stud installed flush with the road surface.

  • Surface mounted solar powered stud ideal for edge delineation.

  • A 360-degree in-ground LED light powered by renewable solar energy, SolarLite Path is the ideal route guidance solution for pedestrian and cyclist pathways.

  • The innovative and flexible design of the IRS2 intelligent road studs provides drivers with advance awareness of the road ahead, giving them more time to react accordingly.

Count & Classify

Clearview’s history began in 1974 with the first fully electronic traffic counter which enabled direct data transfer to a computer.

  • The Insight Data Management platform is a scalable hosted service underpinning a range of targeted applications for traffic monitoring.

  • As cities, towns and villages continue to grow, so do the challenges related to mobility, population, and the environment.

  • The Connex Active is an accurate real-time Pedestrian and Bicycle Classifier for active travel detection and analysis.

  • Connex Traffic is the latest generation of automatic traffic counter designed to provide a high degree of flexibility and accuracy.

  • The M680 is the latest generation of traffic count/classification device based on inductive loop technology.

There Is a Quick Fix for Headlight Dazzle

I was stuck by Katy Austin’s in-depth piece on Why there’s no quick fix in sight for the problem of dazzling headlights. It highlights a growing concern among drivers and, importantly the very human stories of those who are now reluctant to drive after dark. The frustration and anxiety many motorists express undoubtedly reflect a broader challenge on our roads, one that combines modern technology with the perennial need for safety and clarity of vision.

Over the years as vehicle lighting technology has advanced, the intention has always been to improve the visibility for drivers. Yet the lived experience for many of us, temporarily blinded by the glare of oncoming vehicles or choosing avoid journeys at night, reminds us that technological progress is not without unintended consequences.

When I invested in Clearview Intelligence some 20-years ago, it was because I believed that we needed practical evidence-driven ways of reducing accidents. Over the years our focus has been on enhancing route guidance across roads, highways, footpaths and cycleways through simple resilient infrastructure. Solar-powered studs are, in essence, a modern development of Percy Shaw’s original “Cats Eyes” the inspired 1930s invention created specifically to cut night time accidents. The principle remains the same: give drivers clearer delineation of the road ahead. The difference today is performance. Solar-powered studs provide up to 10 times the visibility of traditional reflective cat’s eyes, offering early hazard warning and far stronger guidance after dark or in adverse weather.

Importantly, this is not about adding more glare to roads, but it’s about improving definition and contrast at surface level. Well-designed low-tech infrastructure can materially improve driver perception at night without contributing to the very dazzle that concerns so many motorists. These approaches do not compete with vehicle lighting, they complement it and help drivers interpret bends and carriageway edges with greater clarity and, let’s face it, confidence.

Katy Austin says there may be no quick fix. I think there is. The answer lies in a simple proven solution that puts safety first: solar-powered road stud lights. These are an absolute game-changer, giving drivers the assurance needed to use dipped headlights instead of full beam, while maintaining visibility. Powered by clean, renewable energy, it’s a solution that protects people and the planet. What’s not to like?
